Knowing yourself is important.  Having known that personal awareness, being the Me factor contributes to personal productivity, now let’s take a deeper a look at why personal awareness is a key factor to personal productivity.  We begin with the positive personal awareness combination from what we mentioned in Boosting Your Personal Awareness by Knowing Yourself.    Recall the four personal awareness quadrants? “I know what I can do”, “I know what I cannot do”, “I do not know what I can do” and “I do not know what I cannot do”?

Mixing and matching them, you get the following combination.

  1. I know what I can do” & “I know what I cannot do” – Certainty
  2. I know what I can do” & “I do not know what I cannot do” – Boldness
  3. I know what I cannot do” & “I do not know what I can do” – Pessimistic
  4. I do know what I can do” & “I do not know what I cannot do” – Hopeless

Let us look at the combinations of positive awareness.

“I know what I can do” & “I know what I cannot do”

Given a task, the individual will plan out what to do base on his abilities and experiences.  He knows how to “get there”.  He is certain of the outcome.  This is defined by “I know what I can do”.  Further to that, he draws the limits that he is supposed to work in.  This is defined by “I know what I cannot do”.  Knowing what he cannot do, he knows that he needs to be resourceful in order to get the piece of work done.  It may be through searching through the network of names he has or targeted topics in his research.

This is ideal in getting work done.  He knows how to manage.  The circumstance he wants to be in that will be advantageous to him.  The knowledge of the certainty outcome will get him committing to sub-tasks which eventually lead to the completion of the main task.  Personal productivity achieved at a modest level.

“I know what I can do” & “I do not know what I cannot do”

You will have at least one of these individuals in your life. This individual is bold and daring.   He is a forward driven person with hindsight of his past experiences.  Dictated by “I know what I can do”.  He knows he CAN do it.  He knows he can succeed and will not fail.  He does not allow limits to be drawn around his given task.  Without the awareness of “I do not know what I cannot do” he do not know where his limits are. He only considers obstacles as a challenge to bring him forward to his next goal.

This is ideal in excelling from the average.  The sky’s the limit.  He only wants “win”.  The boldness and attitude will allow him to overcome all obstacles and eventually lead him to excel in his field of work.  Personal productivity achieved at the peak level.

Both are positive combination of personal awareness.  The individuals of both combination have one thing in common, positive thinking.  They are forward looking and certain of their outcome.  They do not say “no”.  Personal productivity begins with Me saying “yes”.  Their thinking mechanism only permits the successful completion of the task (saying to “yes”).    With this “yes” attitude, the individual is able to overcome obstacles and achieve their goals (completion of tasks), resulting in productivity, a personal one.

Do you have any resemblances of the positive personal awareness?
